St Martin’s Le Grandはロンドン中心部の通りの名前。当時の地図を見てみるとG.P.O.=General Post Office と書かれてある。電報を出しに行くのは郵便局だったから、ちゃんと整合性が取れていることを確認。

cabmen’s hutというキオスク的な店は、タクシー運転手が軽食を買ったり休憩したりするために道路沿いに設けられた店らしい。当然食べ物が備えられており、中には休憩用のベンチがあったのでここで「私」は３日間過ごせたのかな。
このcabmen’s hut、1900年ごろはたくさん建っていたようだが、道路沿いに建てられてて邪魔なのでどんどん撤去され、今では10軒ほどしか残っていないとのこと。
day22には「cabmen’s shelter」として出てきたが気づかなかった…
ダブリン、エディンバラ、マンチェスター、バーミンガムはどこも大都市だな。（1898年当時はまだアイルランド全域がイギリス統治下）
