全訳

あの夜もまた、その遠い惑星からもう一度ガスの噴出があった。わたしはその瞬間を目撃した。縁の部分で赤い閃光が走り、輪郭がわずかに突き出た。クロノメーターが深夜12時を指すちょうどそのときだった。それからすぐにオギルヴィーナちゃんに知らせ、場所を代わった。その夜はあったかく、のどが渇いた。だからぎこちなく足をのばして闇の中を手探りで進み、ソーダサイフォンが置いてある小さなテーブルのところに行った。その間、地球の方へ来るガスの流れをみつけて、オギルヴィーナちゃんは叫んでた。
