全訳
彼女は恐怖で悲鳴を上げ、道のわきに飛びのいた。わたしは声をかけようとしたが、頭の回転が追い付く前に彼女は急いで走りだしてしまった。そのときには嵐のせいでひどく疲労がたまっていたので、丘を懸命に登るのはこの上なくしんどかった。道の左側に渡り、そこにあった柵を手すりにして進んでいった。
