2.　茶色のto不定詞の用法は結果用法です。andとほぼ同じ。
3.　赤のasの節はWeybridgeで終わります。接続詞がひとつ足りない気もしますが、緑のthatの前のカンマがandを代用していると考えましょう。

全訳

戦場は音で満ちていた。耳をつんざくような、混乱してしまうほどの音が入り乱れていた。火星人ロボのガランガランという音、崩れる家の破砕音、火に包まれる木・柵・小屋が倒壊するドシンという音、火がパチパチ、ボウボウと燃える音…。濃密な黒煙が流れ出て、川から上がっている水蒸気と混ざっていた。レーザー光線がウェイブリッジの上空を飛び交い、着弾箇所には白熱閃光がきらめいたかと思うと、真っ赤な炎が煙のようにゆらめくのが見えた。近場の家はまだ無傷だったが、いずれ同じ運命を辿ることになるだろう。家は蒸気の中で影のようにぼんやりと青白かった。その背後の炎はあちこちに揺らめいていた。
