For a time she sat in blank* silence.
“But how can we escape?” she asked, suddenly. “They are invulnerable*, they are pitiless*.”

I told her it was the heliograph* signalling—that it was the sign of human help and effort in the sky.

（※「使徒」はキリストの教えを広める弟子たちを指す言葉だから、ヨハネの黙示録で災厄を与えた天使を「使徒」って言っちゃだめだからね）
新劇の対第六使徒戦で一番感動したのは、後方支援部隊の活躍のシーンだったなぁ。
あの世界線はロジスティックス（物流・兵站）担当部の貢献が９割だよな、ほんとに。

全訳
しばらく、リューちゃんはぼんやりと黙っていた。
「でもどーやって逃げるってのよ？」と突然聞いて来た。「あいつら無敵だし、一切容赦ないわよ」
「いや、少なくとも無敵ではないし、もしかしたら少しくらい容赦してくれるかもしれない」とわたしは答えた。「火星軍が強いんだったら、その分わたしたちも正気を保って、慎重にいけばいいはずだ。ロボットの内の一体は向こうでつい３時間前に倒されたんだ。」
「やったの！？」とあたりを見回しながらリューちゃんは言った。「神の使者をどうして殺せるのよ？」
「でも実際見たんだって」とわたしは続けた。「たまたま激戦のさなかに巻き込まれたんだ。それだけだよ」
不意に、「あそこで光ってるものはなに？」と聞いてきた。
「あれはヘリオグラフが信号を送ってるんだ。あの空のきらめきは、人類を護らんと努力している証なのだ」とリューちゃんに語った。
