I seem to remember talking, wanderingly*, to myself during that last spurt*. I was also very thirsty, and bitterly* regretful I had drunk no more water. It is a curious thing that I felt angry with my wife; I cannot account for it, but my impotent* desire to reach Leatherhead worried me excessively*.

1.　赤アンダーラインの文型表示は、第二文型倒置CVSですね。Iが代名詞だから、CSV前置、すなわち「so painful and weary I was…」とするのが文法上正しいはずですが、soーthat構文では絶対倒置が起こる（CSVのsoーthatはない）のに引きずられたんでしょうか。
2.　青アンダーラインは、so intense was the heat…となるのがもともと。andの前と同じ構造をしているので、wasが消えていったんだと思います。
3.　オレンジのget the better ofの意味は「打ち勝つ」「支配する」（≒defeat）。

全訳

長い間、わたしは流れに舟を任せていた。さきほどの凄烈な経験を経てたいそう苦痛と疲労がたまっており、水面の上の熱もすさまじかったからだ。だがその後わたしはまた恐怖に支配され、手で漕ぐのを再開した。太陽は背中を焼くように差していた。とうとう、蛇行部を経てウォルトン橋が視界に入ると、恐怖より熱とめまいを感じるようになった。そして左岸に舟をつけ、死ぬほど気分が悪くなって、長い草の中に倒れこんだ。そのときは午後４時か５時ごろだったと思う。わたしはすぐに立ち上がり、誰にも会うことなくおそらく半マイルほど歩き、生垣のかげでまた倒れこんだ。倒れる間際、ふらふらしながら、自分に何か語り掛けたような気もする。また、とてものどがかわいており、どうしてあれだけしか水を飲まなかったのかと苦々しく後悔した。ターちゃんに怒りを感じたのは不思議なことだ。その理由の説明はできないが、レザーヘッドにたどり着きたいという実現不可能な願いのせいで、過度に不安になっていた。
