1. 赤のasの意味は、「～とき」かな。
2. 青のsomeの意味は、aroundやaboutと同じく「だいたい」。
3. オレンジのten poundsですが、1900年ごろのポンドは2017年のポンドの75～80倍の価値があります。https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/currency-converter/こちらを使ってください。2017年のデータだと、1ポンド≒145円くらいですから、11～12万円ほどですね。

全訳
周りの部屋や背後の階段を駆けまわったりしている足音が響いていた。下宿主が玄関から出ようとしていた。ガウンとショールをゆるく来ていた。次に夫が出てきて、突然叫んでいた。
こうした状況の意味を悟り始めると、妹は急いで自分の部屋に戻り、持ち出せる金を全て持ち出しー合計で10ポンド（11万円強）ほどーポケットに押し込み、再び通りへ出た。
なあ、この「the import」（意味）っていうのは何だ？
もうこの下宿には帰って来れないってことですよ。
ロンドンが危機にさらされ、妹が脱出しようとしたところで、長かった第14章も終了だ。次から第15章になるぞ。再び視点が私（姉）に移る。妹はまた第16章から再登場するからしばらく待っておけ。
