1. 青アンダーラインの部分で省略されてると考えられる一語は「being」ですね。one以降とthe other以降は独立分詞構文と考えればOK。
2. 紫のtheyが指しているものは「(most of) the spectators」。
3. 茶色の「mental conflict」は「恐怖」と「好奇心」の闘争です。第５章第１段落参照。
4. ピンクのfewの後に省略されている一語は「people」。manyとかもpeopleが省略されたりします。
5. 赤アンダーラインの部分の文型表示は上の通り。「ー」で挟まれてるところは挿入なので無視。「One woman I approached and accosted」となり、OSVの第三文型倒置だなってわかると思います。
全訳
ほとんどの見物人は１つ２つの集団となって集まっていた。１つはウォーキングの方の小規模な群衆、もう１つはチョブハムの方向の一団だった。明らかに彼らもわたしと同じ葛藤を抱いていた。わたしの近くにはほとんど人がいなかった。ある女性に近づいて声をかけた。その人は近所の人だと気づいた。名前は知らなかったけど。
ほとんど明瞭な会話の時間はなかった。
ここの「articulate」は形容詞で、lateの部分の発音は「lət」（レット/リット）。動詞の「articulate」のlateは「leit」（レイト）で発音が違っちゃうんだよね。
基本的には、chocolateなど動詞以外の-lateは「lət」、calculateなど動詞の-lateは「leit」となるんだよ。
