1.　オレンジのカッコ内に、比較級強調になるように一語を入れると、far, much, still, evenなどですね。far & muchは「はるかに」(単に強めるだけ)、still & evenは「いっそう」（比較対象は既にすごいけど、それに加えてってこと）ということで若干意味が違いますけど、まあここではどちらでもいいかもですね。
なおa lotはダメです。後ろに名詞があるときは使えません。
2.　紫のmineを２語で言うと「my escape」ですかね。escapeを「逃走」と訳すと、have an escapeというつながりが気持ち悪いように感じますが、「逃げ道」という訳だとぴったり当てはまりそうです。
3.　赤のthemが指してるものは、１文目の「that crowd of people」ですね。
4.　ピンクのyardについて、１ヤードは約0.91ｍでした。第23話でやりましたね。
5.　青アンダーラインについて、if省略の仮定法過去完了っていうことは見えやすいかな。livedのあとのto不定詞は結果用法（lived to tell the taleで「生き延びてその話をする」）がいいかもしれません。She lived to be 90 years old.(彼女は90歳まで生きた)を思い出しましょう。
6.　赤アンダーラインのandが繋いでるものはthe flashesとthe men fallingです。sawの目的語(+補語)どうしですね。
7.　緑のandが繋いでるものは前後の２つのSV（文）です。litの後ろに名詞があるので、litは過去分詞じゃなくて過去形です。だからSVになってます。
8.　青のas it wereの意味は「いわば」。また同義イディオムは「so to speak」です。第63話でやりましたね。She is, as it were[so to speak], a walking dictionary.(彼女はいわば歩く辞書だ)　を覚えておくといいかもしれません。比喩を持ち出すときに使う表現ですね。
9.　茶色のasの意味は「～のとき」「～の間」です。
10.　灰色のandが繋いでるものは、lighting, splitting, smashing, firing, bringingだと思います。splittingの前のandの役割が若干気になりますが、lighting句が長かったからつけてるだけなのかなって思います。皆さんはどう思いますかコメントくださいね定期

全訳

でもその群衆にはわたしよりはるかに限られた逃げ道しかなかった。ヘザーが生えている小山がレーザービームの下半分を遮ったってことだけで彼らは救われたのだ。もし放物面鏡の高さが数メートル高かったら、生きのびてこの話を語ることができた人は誰もいなかっただろう。彼らは閃光が走るとともに人々が倒れていくのを見た。昏どきの空をレーザービームが標的に向かって走るときに、いわば目に見えない手が低木に火をつけたようだった。そして、穴からの持続低音に重なって大きくなってきたシューシューという蒸気の音がすると、ビームが人々の頭のすぐ上を弧を描くように飛んでいった。道沿いのブナの木の上部に火をつけ、レンガにひびを入れ、窓を粉々にし、窓枠を燃やし、崩れている廃墟の中で最寄りの角の家の破風の一部分を破壊していった。
