1. 赤アンダーラインの部分だけ（confessの目的語that節の中）での、主語はthe sight、動詞はexcited。
2. 赤のandが繋いでるものは、becameとdefeated。直訳だと「想像が好戦的になり（想像が）侵略者を倒した」となりますけど、日本語訳するときには「想像の中で」とかという風にごまかしてあげましょうかね。
3. オレンジで「(hardly～) fair」（ほとんど公平でない）とあるけど、有利な方はイギリス軍。いままでの話の流れでも推測できますし、そのあとの「they seemed very helpless in the pit」からはっきりわかります。
全訳
こんな風に軍備が整えられる様子や、準備の様子を見て、たいそう興奮したことは白状しなければならない。想像の中でわたしはとても好戦的になり、あらゆる派手な方法で侵略者を倒した。わたしが学生だったころ思い描いていた、戦争とヒロイズムの夢のようなものが戻ってきた。そのときわたしにはほとんどフェアな戦いのようには思えなかった。火星人は穴の中でとても無力に見えた。
学校に侵入したテロリストを一人で全滅させてヒーローになる妄想、小中学校のころにやったりしなかった？
…そうね。わたしもそういうことを夢見た日もあったわよ。
